R.I.P. Jerry Ahern (Survivalist, Defender...)

I just found out today that Jerry Ahern, author of The Survivalist series as well as tons of other men's fiction, has succumbed to cancer.

I became friends with Jerry on Facebook and he finally agreed to an interview, which I had planned to post here on the 2-Fisted Blog, but he was hospitalized shortly after and it never came to pass.

From what I could tell, he was a stand-up guy. I know I, and millions of other red-blooded males, sure enjoyed his writing over the years. I don't regret missing the chance for the interview so much as I regret just not getting to know and interact with him more than I did.

I hope you're in a better place now, Jerry.

There is an interview snippet from another blogger here.

And I just found this interview on Survival Weekly, which covers some of the ground I wanted to.

  1. That's a damn shame. I grew up reading his books and always enjoyed them. Guess it's time to break out the well worn copies of The Survivalist that I still own and give them another read.

  2. That sounds like a plan.

I found his TEOTWAWKI books a lot better thought-out and written than his competitors...
